Sleep Apnea Services - Screening, Diagnosis & Oral Appliance Therapy

Your Patients Are Losing Sleep
Your Practice Can Change That.

Over 80% of sleep apnea cases go undiagnosed. As a dental provider, you're already looking at the airway, the jaw, the tongue, and the signs of bruxism every day. DentuluPro gives you the software, workflows, and clinical support to turn those observations into screening, diagnosis coordination, and oral appliance therapy.

Sleep Apnea Care

Most Sleep Apnea Patients Don’t Know They Have It.

There’s a good chance the patient in your chair right now has undiagnosed sleep apnea. They may complain about feeling tired, mention headaches, or grind through their night guards faster than you’d expect. Sleep apnea isn’t just a sleep problem it’s a medical condition with serious consequences.

Certification is not legally required in most states. However, training in sleep medicine fundamentals and oral appliance therapy is strongly recommended, and many providers pursue credentials through AADSM or similar organizations. DentuluPro provides onboarding training to help your team get started with confidence. Check your state dental board’s specific regulations for any additional requirements.

No. Dentists screen for sleep apnea and provide treatment, but the diagnosis must come from a physician based on a sleep study. DentuluPro coordinates this by connecting your practice with board-certified sleep physicians who review the test results and provide the formal diagnosis.

Custom-fabricated mandibular advancement devices (MADs) are the standard. These are individually made from impressions of the patient’s teeth and are adjustable so you can titrate the jaw position for optimal airway opening. The appliance must be PDAC-verified for medical insurance reimbursement. DentuluPro connects you with qualified labs for fabrication.

From initial screening to appliance delivery, the typical timeline is 2–4 weeks, depending on how quickly the patient completes the home sleep test and the lab turnaround for the custom device. Follow-up efficacy testing usually occurs 30–90 days after the patient is wearing the appliance regularly.

Oral appliance therapy for diagnosed OSA is covered by most medical insurance plans, including Medicare (under HCPCS codes E0486 and K1027). Coverage requires a physician’s diagnosis, a sleep study, and a prescription for oral appliance therapy. DentuluPro provides coding guidance and documentation templates to support clean claims. Dental insurance generally does not cover sleep appliances, though the ADA introduced CDT codes (D9947, D9948, D9949) in 2022 that may eventually expand dental coverage.

Contact DentuluPro for current pricing and available plans. Sleep apnea services are available as part of the DentuluPro platform subscription, with the goal of making it accessible for practices of all sizes. There is no new equipment required beyond what you already have for general dentistry.

Yes. The screening process involves validated questionnaires that can be administered by any trained team member. Many practices have hygienists lead the screening conversation during routine appointments they’re often the ones who notice the oral signs first.

Not every patient will be an oral appliance candidate. Some patients with severe OSA will be better served by CPAP therapy, and some will need a combination approach. DentuluPro’s physician collaboration ensures each patient receives the appropriate recommendation. If CPAP is indicated, the referring sleep physician manages that pathway. Your role is in screening and in providing oral appliance therapy for the patients who are appropriate candidates.
